William Poromaa, born in 2000 in Malmberget and raised in Fränsta, has grown into becoming one of Sweden’s brightest talents in cross-country skiing. He made his World Cup debut in 2019, and just a year later, earned a place on the Swedish national team. Since then, his rise through the international ranks has been steady, focused, and full of promise.
His breakthrough on the world stage came during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, where his performances drew attention, and a month later he claimed his first World Cup podium with a bronze medal. In 2025, Poromaa captured his first individual World Cup victory, and just weeks later at the World Championships, he delivered a trio of standout performances by bringing home two bronze medals and one silver. With those results, he established himself among the sport’s elite as a proven force and a key figure in the Swedish national team.
