Tara Babulfath is the daughter of Iranian-born Swedish wrestler Mohammad Babulfath, who competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, and Swedish wrestler Ida Hellström, a multiple medalist at the World Wrestling Championships. Tara competes for Sweden in the 48 kg judo category and has earned several medals at the Junior World Championships and Junior European Championships.
At the 2024 Senior World Judo Championships, Tara won a bronze medal despite still being a junior, and at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, she had her major breakthrough, securing a bronze medal. This made her Sweden’s first-ever Olympic medalist in judo.
